What a Stamp Bought Online Costs — The Honest Version (No Invented Price List)
This page will not give you a price table, because any site that publishes one without seeing your set is inventing it — and an online checkout that prices a stamp from a dropdown, sight unseen, is inventing it faster. Here is what actually drives the fee on an online job — which is more useful, and has the advantage of being true. The short version: the channel changes the logistics, not the engineering, so it changes almost nothing about the fee. Anyone selling "online discounts" on the review itself is discounting the review itself.
The Five Real Cost Drivers
| Set size and discipline count | The job is priced from the work the review must read. A single-discipline residential set and a four-discipline commercial set are different jobs; every discipline on the set needs its own licensed review, and the fee follows the sheets and the seals. |
|---|---|
| Set condition | A clean, complete, coordinated set prices at the review rate. A set with missing calculations, stale code editions, or sheets that disagree with each other prices at review plus corrections — and a set that needs design work stops being a stamp job and becomes design scope, priced like design. |
| Calculation state | Calculations that arrive with the drawings get verified. Calculations that do not exist get created — real engineering hours, billed like it. Sending the calcs is the cheapest thing a buyer can do. |
| Jurisdiction | High-scrutiny reviewers (seismic, hurricane, hospital authorities) demand deeper review and more resubmittal rounds. The fee follows the AHJ's standard of care, not the firm's mood. |
| Schedule and rounds | Rush is a real cost with a real cause: it displaces other work. Same-day answers are a posture; same-day everything is a price. And every revision after the review starts is new scope on the same job — the honest firms say so in the proposal; read for it. Correction rounds are quoted as included, capped, or per-round — three different prices wearing one name; make the quote say which. |
How an Online Job Prices, Stage by Stage
The upload and digital intake ride inside the job's fixed fee — they are how the fee gets set honestly. The review is the fee's center: a fixed price from a defined set, per discipline — identical online, because the review is identical. Findings are included when they are a list; when they become fixes, the fixes price as correction work or design scope, quoted before they are done. The seal and delivery add nothing — the seal is the review's conclusion, and the file transfer is free; any quote that prices "digital delivery" as a premium is pricing the wrong product. The correction cycle runs included, capped, or per-round; know which before the first comment letter arrives, not after. Across all of it, what matters is not the structure but the definition — in the quote, before money moves.
How to Compare Two Quotes Without a Price List
- Same job, same set? Send both firms the identical package — the checklist exists for exactly this
- Who seals, in which discipline, in which state — verify it
- What does the review actually check — and what happens, in writing, when the set fails?
- Are correction rounds included, capped, or per-round?
- The date, and what the firm does when it slips
The evaluated firms on this site compete on a stated best-price posture with same-day quotes from a complete scope. Hold them — and everyone — to the checklist standard, not to a price list nobody honest can publish.
Who Publishes This Directory
Published by Apex Grid Engineering PLLC. The firms evaluated and listed on this site today are the publisher's own family of brands — this is an affiliated directory, not a neutral referee. The methodology below is the standard any engineering firm can be measured against, and it is the standard we hold our own firms to in public. Presentation order on this site is the publisher's choice and an experiment in what helps buyers decide — it is not an objective quality verdict, and no firm pays for placement. Coverage claims are limited to licensure the operator's bench actually holds, stated per state. No reviews, ratings, or project claims are published for any firm unless they can be documented — this site explains PE stamping as a fully online transaction and publishes the publisher's methodology assessments; it does not publish customer reviews, and you will find none invented here.
