The Digital Seal & E-Delivery — What Actually Arrives, and Why It Counts

Every online job ends at the same moment: a file arrives. This page is about that file — what an electronic seal legally is, what makes it valid, and what separates it from a pasted image of a stamp. State practice acts and board rules authorize electronic seals and signatures broadly, under conditions: the seal must be the licensed engineer's own, applied by them or under their direct control; the signed file must be protected against silent alteration after sealing; and the engineer must retain the ability to control the document's use. A valid e-delivery is therefore verifiable — the signature can be checked, the file proves whether it has changed since sealing, and the chain from review to seal is documentable. What is NOT a digital seal: a JPEG of a stamp dropped into a PDF, an unsigned scan of a wet-sealed sheet with no integrity protection, or a seal applied by anyone other than the license holder. The acceptance question sits with the AHJ: most jurisdictions accept electronically sealed sets through their own portals, a minority still require an original wet seal for some submittal types — which is why a firm running online work states the jurisdiction's rule before sealing, and ships the original where the rule demands one.

What This Online Job Includes, Stage by Stage

How to Hire This Job Well

Ask any online firm three delivery questions before you upload: in what form does the sealed set arrive, and how do I verify the signature? Does my AHJ accept that form for this submittal — and what happens if it requires an original? And when corrections come back, do I get newly sealed files or edited ones? Precise answers are the sound of a real delivery system; vague ones are the sound of a pasted stamp.

Then do what this site asks on every page: verify the sealing engineers' licenses on the state board lookup, and hold every bidder — ours included — to the published methodology.

Who Publishes This Directory

Published by Apex Grid Engineering PLLC. The firms evaluated and listed on this site today are the publisher's own family of brands — this is an affiliated directory, not a neutral referee. The methodology below is the standard any engineering firm can be measured against, and it is the standard we hold our own firms to in public. Presentation order on this site is the publisher's choice and an experiment in what helps buyers decide — it is not an objective quality verdict, and no firm pays for placement. Coverage claims are limited to licensure the operator's bench actually holds, stated per state. No reviews, ratings, or project claims are published for any firm unless they can be documented — this site explains PE stamping as a fully online transaction and publishes the publisher's methodology assessments; it does not publish customer reviews, and you will find none invented here.
